Critical Role Season Four Reveals the Soldiers Party

Ever since the premiere of the fourth campaign, recently appointed game master the talented storyteller has kept fans guessing with rich lore, a wide array of characters, and a thrilling plot including celestial beings, fiends, and malevolent powers growing in strength within the urban setting.

Note: Revealing details for Episode 3 of Campaign 4 are included.

The Warrior Group Introduced

Episode 3 concluded with a huge suspense moment and introduced the premier party of characters who will branch out from the primary party to begin their separate journey, separate from the additional parties.

This warrior group features Teor (brought to life by the voice actor), the agile character (Laura), the strong-willed figure (Whitney Moore), the cleric (the player), and the mysterious adventurer (the actor).

The Reason for Division

Considering an extensive roster, it was evident from the start that keeping everyone at the same party would be unworkable.

This explains, the initial installments of Campaign 4 serve as an Introduction, weaving together the individual narratives before splitting into three smaller tables: Soldiers, Planners, and Explorers.

The Nature of the Warrior Group

According to the DM, the Soldiers table is for participants who are drawn to a typically action-packed combat and conflict-driven narrative style where non-violent answers are few and far between.

Initially, characters like the hesitant healer the cleric might seem out of place, but the developments of the third episode demonstrate why these five characters are ideally matched for the warrior group.

Reasons to Leave

First, the party has a clear idea where to go next after a intense opening clash with the enemy group.

Casimir of the deceased character—whose passing initiated the story’s plot—manipulated the foes for his own means, invading Thjazi’s hideout, attacking the character, and taking all the magical artifacts to sell off.

The antagonist then settled his obligations and ran away to a secure base in the remote area, above the city, with Cyd close behind.

Character Drivers

Additionally, each adventurer has a specific drive to exit the urban setting:

  • Thimble, as Thjazi’s partner and trusted friend, seeks revenge.
  • Kattigan knows the region and advises that it is a dangerous location.
  • The strong character and The healer, having disobeyed his family’s wishes to kill the target and instead freed him, have no other options.
  • Yet, their position as key figures in the influential clan could help the group reach locations they typically wouldn’t be able to.
  • Furthermore, Teor pledged a unbreakable promise to Wicander for his rescue and will now go with him everywhere.

Pursued by Authorities

Finally, all of them are hunted by the rulers that control the setting for a range of causes, making lingering locally too risky:

  • The rogue and The hero are notorious outlaws.
  • Tyranny and The healer betrayed the powerful family and the horde of evil beings they are allied with.
  • Teor is targeted for elimination by the clan.

This means them little choice but to travel to the northern region in pursuit of the antagonist.

Upcoming Developments

According to the recent installment’s follow-up content, we learn that the combat party won’t be around in the upcoming installment, leaving the rest of the cast members to assemble the Questers and Schemers tables.

Viewers can anticipate finding out which characters will be where in the season’s final introductory chapter, streaming live on October 24.
